Elizabeth Stone
President and Executive Chef 

For 25 years, Elizabeth Stone, as president, owner and Executive Chef of The Stone Kitchen Catering & Special Events, has impressed clients with extraordinary experiences, superb service, fabulous food and exceptional event design. What started in her mother’s kitchen in the late 1980’s as a favor for a friend blossomed into a booming multi million dollar company.

With her remarkable energy and relentless passion, Elizabeth rebranded her company to honor her 25 years in business and to offer new and expanded services to her clients. Silver Stone’s philosophy will incorporate the experience of over 15,000 events and the “Whatever it Takes” attitude to “Create the Event Experience” for each customer. The new company will continue t have a “Commitment to Excellence,” and will serve our clients with trust, integrity, innovation, exceptional service and professional enthusiasm.

Elizabeth has won numerous awards, the most recent being Dessert Chef of the Year for two years at Woodlands Food and Wine Grand Tasting Competition. She has also published her first entertaining book, An Invitation to Entertain, Recipes for Gracious Parties.

 

Doris Johnson
General Manager


Doris has been in the catering industry for several years having worked as an Office Assistant and Office Manager at Silver Stone Events. Doris attended Grambling State University and majored in Business Administration. She grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received her management skills from managing Chevron Chemical Company and The Chevron Refinery chemical laboratories. Doris retired after 30 years from the world of corporate giants and life of travel, and joined Silver Stone Events in 2004.

 

She is really a jack of all trades and can take on anything and have it handled in a matter of seconds. Why does she like being in the catering business after spending 30 years in the oil refinery and chemical business? “It’s simple, I like being a part of the most memorable moments of people’s lives and being a contributor to the success of those moments and the challenge of a small growing company like Silver Stone Events that is becoming one of the leaders in the catering industry. Getting the vision and turning it into reality is just plain old fun!”

What makes Doris happy working for Silver Stone Events? “The positive feedback that we get from our clients, they thank us for making their day flawless. The Events Team

Stephanie Harding Bryant
Account Executive, Event Planner

Stephanie Harding Bryant has been a member of the Silver Stone team for over 10 years. As a Special Events Account Executive, Stephanie contributes to Silver Stone’s success in overseeing hundreds of events planned every year for clients including: weddings, corporate functions, holiday parties, galas and private events. Stephanie's dedication ensures that each of her clients has an incredible experience at each event. Her attention to detail and impeccable taste are crucial assets in the catering industry. Her incredible success as an event planner can be attributed to her creative sense of style, attentive and personal relationships with her clients and attention to detail.

  

Marcie Tautenhahn Foley

Account Executive, Event Planner

Marcie Tautenhahn Foley joined the team in the summer of 2008 and brings an attentiveness that ensures her clients have an unforgettable event experience. Her natural knack for event planning stems from a deep enthusiasm to coordinate and manage multi-faceted events. Marcie’s true gift is developing a lasting relationship with her clients who often turn to her to help celebrate lasting life memories. As a life long Houstonian, Marcie explores the latest in local food, art, and entertainment while discovering new trends to combine them with her classic sense of traditionalism. Her passion for the events industry is felt through customized menu items and specialized décor that are executed with a tireless dedication. Marcie’s primary goal is to transform her clients’ vision into a once in a lifetime experience for her clients and their guests. With a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Administration and Sociology, you could say she has a degree in food, people and fun!

 Dana Kyle

Junior Event Planner

Shortly before coming to Silver Stone Events to begin training as an Event Planner; Dana Kyle-Cagle worked at Sugarbaby’s Cupcake Boutique as the Store Manger, Party and Events Coordinator and Pastry Chef. Dana obtained her Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry degrees from The Art Institute of Houston. With a strong background in the hospitality industry, Dana hopes to bring her passion for food and entertaining to Silver Stone Events.

 

 

 

Caroline Montondon

Junior Event Planner 

Native Houstonian Caroline Montondon joined the Silver Stone Events team as an assistant events planner in the summer of 2013. Caroline attended The University of Mississippi where she received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and she held numerous leadership positions in event planning in Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women. Caroline’s experience and genuine sense of enthusiasm for producing exciting and memorable events will be great additions to the team.

 

 

Marcia Moseley

Event Planner Assistant and Social Media

Marcia graduated from the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston in 2012. While working towards her degree, she took on a position as a event planner assistant at Silver Stone Events. Upon graduation, Marcia came to work full time for the company and has since developed a passion for special events and catering.

           

 

 

 

 

  

Elise Ashey

Executive Assistant to Elizabeth Stone
 
Elise Ashey joined Silver Stone Events in March of 2014. She brings several years of experience in the world of events from Organizing Marching Band Festival in New England to coordinating tours, large group luncheons, showers, funeral, rehearsal dinners, weddings, and receptions at the Brookwood Community in Brookshire, Texas.

 

Chi Wu
Food and Beverage Director

Chi Wu received a Master Degree in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine at the American College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Houston. He received a Bachelor of Art in Biology at Hofstra University in New York. Chi serves as the Food and Beverage Director for Silver Stone Events. He oversees the purchasing for the company as well as the inventory, and the management of the kitchen.

 

 

 

 

 

Elkin Ordanza
Production Director

Elkin is a graduate of the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston. At Silver Stone Events, he works as the production director and organizes the production of the event after the event is sold. These duties include inventory of equipment and supplies, distribution equipment and supplies, as well as numerous other tasks. In addition to this, he works as a wait staff, bartender, or captain. Elkin is a crucial piece to ensuring that events are successful and well executed.


 

 




Gail Humes
Accounts Receivable, Event Captain

Gail first came on board with Elizabeth in 1993, when Silver Stone Events was becoming recognized. She served as the accounting manager and handled payables, receivables, and payroll until 2003. In December of 2011, Gail rejoined Silver Stone Events as the Accounts Receivable Manager, and also works as team captain at various events. Gail’s witty and playful personality never fails to light up the office.

 

 

 

 Sarah DeWalch                                                                                                                     Staffing Coordinator

Sarah DeWalch was born and raised in Houston. She graduated from Louisiana State University in May of 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in General Business and a minor in Personal Finance. While attending school she held multiple leadership positions within the Chi Omega Fraternity for Women and was involved in planning numerous campus-wide events. Sarah worked for silverStone during the summers of 2011 and 2013 and recently joined fulltime in the summer of 2014. She is looking forward to utilizing her leadership and logistical skills to help the company further grow and succeed.

    

 

 

The Culinary Team

Jose Villata
Chef de Cuisine

Jose started with Silver Stone Events in the summer of 2008 as an Event and Production Chef and quickly was promoted to Chef de Cuisine. He effectively and efficiently produces high quality food with gourmet flair. Prior to his time at the company, he worked for 24 years as the Executive Chef for another local high end catering company and 5 years prior to that as Executive Chef at Charley T’s restaurant. Jose brings to the table excellent knowledge of food preparation for the highest quality catering and delivering the freshest products available to the client. He is truly a partner with Elizabeth Stone in creating and executing her vision to the table.



Judy Jackson
Food and Kitchen Consultant

Judy started working with Elizabeth on the first day her company operated even before moving into commercial kitchen space. She and Elizabeth developed, tested and re-tested every recipe for the company, as well as executed all of the food produced for the company for the first 5 years. When the company moved to commercial space, Judy worked along side every chef for the next 15 years to insure they were preparing the food the way Elizabeth wanted it and maintaining the high quality standards of the company. For the past years and currently, Judy has served as the Food and Kitchen Consultant. She oversees our food quality and keeps an eye on every item that leaves our kitchen. She truly makes sure that there is “No Stone left Unturned.”


Culinary Team

The team is comprised of eight members that have a combination of over 100 years of experience. They are a happy group of people who love to produce great food. They are very efficient and effective in their execution and continue to raise the quality of the product that the company produces.



Phaedra Johnson Matthews

Jade Stone Café Manager, Event Chef

Phaedra Johnson Matthews is the manager of the Jade Stone Cafe at Asia Society Texas Center. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management with a concentration in food production. Phaedra started working with the company in 1997 on a part time basis. Elizabeth recognized that she yearned for more excitement than what was in financial services and offered her a full time position in 2004. Since then she has not looked back. Phaedra thoroughly enjoys the ever-changing fast pace of the food service industry!
